My Favorite Places

One of my favorite places is Il Duomo in Florence, Italy.  I just love the story of how this magnificent dome was built and the amazing engineering feat it represents.
Another one of my most favorite places is Taipei, Taiwan.  My parents are from Taiwan and I wish I could go back more frequently to visit my extended family.
Someday I hope to find more amazing places around the world!

  1. Florence is so beautiful, Joanne! I have been there several times, and it is one of the best cities in the whole world for just walking around in to see beautiful things. And how lucky that you have been to Taiwan! I have not been there. The focus of this class is the Indian epics, but Buddhism also began in India at about the same time as the epics were taking shape, and if you want to focus on Buddhist storytelling traditions in the second half of the semester, that would be great; you might find some great Taiwanese connections!

Meanwhile, your blog post looks great: text, images, layout, links, everything. So, thanks for getting started with the class, and I hope you will enjoy the blogging!

    1. Thank you very much! I actually do not know a lot about Buddhist traditions, but I would be very excited to explore those connections and learn more about Buddhism.

  2. Oh wow! You're so well travelled! I'm jealous!! I've never left the states... I really want to go abroad but I'm kind of indifferent towards the idea because I've never felt like it's been a true possibility? I need to get outta that mindset because travel is SO important! I think Italy is going to be my first stop, then I'd like to volunteer in India!
